Lake Street Family Physicians Doctors & Staff

Our practice offers compassionate and expert care across the entire age spectrum from newborns to adult men and women. Our office is family friendly and family centered, offering pediatric, gynecologic, adolescent, and comprehensive healthcare to all types of families. Our staff is experienced and efficient, friendly and caring, and is truly our greatest asset.

Dr. Paul Kungl (he/him/his) received his bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University and graduated medical school at The Ohio State University, College of Medicine. Dr. Kungl has been board certified in Family Medicine since 1997.

He enjoys treating the entire family, from newborn care to geriatrics and everything in between. He believes that quality health care is achieved through a strong relationship with his patients and through an emphasis on preventive medicine. Having 3 young children of his own, Dr. Kungl particularly enjoys caring for pediatric patients and adolescents.

He also has clinical interests in sports medicine, cancer screening, cholesterol screening and treatment, asthma, diabetes, routine gynecology, hypertension and dermatology including minor skin procedures.

Dr. Deborah Manus (she/her/hers) was born and raised in Durham, NC. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Chicago. She graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at West Suburban Medical Center.

She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and holds a special interest in the mind body connection.

Dr. Manus and her husband have 2 adult children. In her spare time, Dr. Manus can be found on a bike trail, in a kayak, on her yoga mat or in a comfortable chair with a book in her lap and her dog at her side.

Dr. Marian Sassetti (she/her/hers) received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. She graduated from medical school at Stanford University. She completed her residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. She has been board certified in Family Medicine since 1988.

Dr. Kathryn VanBuskirkDr. Kathryn VanBuskirk received her undergraduate degree at Wheaton College and graduated from medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL. She is excited to continue her medical practice partnering with patients of all ages to achieve and maintain their health goals. She is a former Oak Park resident and is looking forward to providing empathetic care to such a vibrant community. She enjoys fitness, cooking, reading, knitting, and spending time with her husband, William.

Dr. Allison Byrne (she/her/hers) is joining us after finishing her residency at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park where she served as Chief Resident. She earned her undergraduate degree in Community Health at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. After college, she moved back to Chicago to attend Rush Medical College where she had her first exposure to Family Medicine at Lake Street Family Physicians. She is so excited to return to the group now as a Board Certified Family Physician. Clinical interests include acute and preventative care, well woman care, contraception, mental health and geriatrics. Dr. Byrne is driven by the bonds she gets to develop with patients in keeping them healthy over the course of their lives. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, boxing and spending time with her family and friends.

Dr. HagenSwiecicki “Hay-gan-swicky” (he/him/his) grew up in Southern IL close to St. Louis, MO. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He received his master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Midwestern University. He then went on to complete his medical degree at Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine residency training at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital in La Grange, IL. Dr. HagenSwiecicki appreciates taking care of patients of all ages with focuses on preventative care, obesity medicine, routine gynecologic care, osteopathy, and management of chronic conditions with an emphasis on lifestyle modification to maintain health and wellness.

He enjoys living in Oak Park with his wife, son, cat, and two dogs. Hobbies include martial arts and treasure hunting with his son.

Dr. Candice Oberlies, DMS, PA-C (she/her/hers) is a doctoral-level trained Physician Assistant with over 21 years of
clinical experience. Dr. Oberlies earned her B.A. in Psychology from Miami University (1993), her
Physician Assistant degree from Cook County Hospital-Malcolm X College (2001), and her Doctor of
Medical Science degree from Butler University (2022). As a healthcare provider, she has practiced at
Ingalls Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Room and then joined our practice in 2008. She enjoys providing
medical care to all our patients and has clinical interests in pediatrics, mental health, dermatology,
disease prevention, and women’s health.
Dr. Oberlies also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Midwestern University and a Clinical Preceptor for
Butler University’s, Dominican University’s, and Midwestern University’s Physician Assistant Programs.

LaToya Miller, PA-C (she/her/hers) graduated from the Physician Assistant program at Northwestern University in 2014. She comes to us from Midwest Orthopedics at RUSH where she provided orthopedic care to patients of all ages. She is trained in Family Medicine and serves on the board of the Dominican University Physician Assistant Program.

kelsey-olsenKelsey Olson, PA-C (she/her/hers) graduated from Rush University’s Physician Assistant program in 2020 where she received training in family medicine as well as advanced clinical training in orthopedics. Prior to her physician assistant career, she worked at Lake Street Family Physicians as a health coach. She provides medical care to patients of all ages, and she is passionate about patient education, preventive medicine, and healthy living.
